Standardisation
Many valid gearing standards are dated and even wrong. FRENCO has introduced a number of measures to rectify standards and plays an active role in numerous standards committees, for example:
  • Revision of DIN 5480 and 5481. FRENCO has taken the chair for the standards committee AA 2 (spline standards) in Germany.
  • Revision of ISO 4156. FRENCO, as the German delegation of the TC14 WG1, is working on a new version.
  • Engagement in the DIN standards committee NAM234-11 'Gear and Spline Terminology and Tolerances'.
  • Engagement in the ISO TC60 revision of DIN3962.
  • Project start revision DIN 3970.
  • Member of the VDI (association of German engineers) technical committee 'Measuring gears and gearboxes'.
  • Member of the German delegation to formulate the new ISO standard 18683 'Calibration of gear and spline measuring instruments'.
  • Member of VDMA (German engineering federation).
  • Member of FVA (research association for drive technology).
However, there are still many ambiguities and inconsistencies in the field of industrial metrology of gears and splines. Wherever possible, standardising steps are supported and own definitions and documents are drawn up.
