Instruments for size inspection, face stop VP
Gear and spline inspection instruments of the type VP have a face stop. During inspection there is thus no need to find the reversal point, which ensures a stable measured value. Test items with suitable plane surfaces are placed onto a tabletop. Inspection is always carried out at right angles to the workpiece axis. VP inspection instruments are characterised by their flexibility. The following is a list of the advantages:

 
  • stable measured value,
  • only minor influence of the operator during inspection,
  • easy adjustment of the measuring force,
  • quick change from internal to external gearing,
  • quick change from large to small gearing diameters,
  • software evaluation is possible,
  • longitudinal dynamic type gives information about the whole length of the face width. Form errors, such as crowning, conicality and roundness are detectable.
 


Type VPO:
The diametrical dimension over balls of a specific measuring plane can easily and quickly be determined with a VPO measuring instrument. The instrument can be converted within minutes to a different diameter or from external to internal gearing.
The measuring balls are mounted on a sliding and a fixed carriage respectively. The sliding carriage can be taken off the workpiece by means of a lever at the front, in order to change the workpiece. Two options are available to evaluate the measurement results: firstly with a dial indicator and secondly with a digital display (if a probe is used).

Type VPE:
The diametrical dimension over balls in as many measuring planes as required can quickly be determined with a VPE instrument. The instrument can be converted within minutes to a different diameter and from external to internal gearing.
Two probes, one for the actual dimension the other for the height of the measuring plane, are attached to the inspection instrument if evaluation is carried out with a PC. This enables longitudinal dynamic evaluation of gearing. Another advantage of the longitudinal dynamic evaluation: Form errors such as roundness, crowning and conicality are detectable.

Type VPS:
The VPS instrument, the latest development in this product line, is a further development of the successful inspection instrument line VPO/VPE and is especially suitable for big and heavy test items. Great importance was given to functionality, optical characteristic, an ingenious design and optimum ergonomics to make sure that besides precision and accuracy, a comprehensive objective was achieved. The VPS is easy to operate and a stable tabletop instrument to be used on the shop floor.
Just like VPO and VPE instruments, the VPS is used for size inspections of gearing and is suitable for both internal and external gearing as well as for spur and helical gearing.

The VPS has, unlike the VPE, a fixed workpiece support on which both measuring stilts are vertically movable. The vertical travel is 75mm. In order to position heavy workpieces easily for inspection with double flank contact, workpieces can be supported on air cushions.

Longitudinal dynamic evaluation LDYN:
VPE and VPS measuring instruments can be upgraded for dynamic inspections. The vertical travel of the table (VPE) or of the measuring stilts (VPS) are assigned to a measured value and saved. Several hundred vertical sections are possible and can be evaluated with this longitudinal scanning method. The upgrade requires both mechanical and electronic components, plus the software.
